Cleaning up the result

  • Trim… cuts the silence at the start and end.
  • Normalize volume evens out a recording that's too quiet.
  • Make mono halves the size of a talk where stereo adds nothing.
  • Compress (128 kbps or 64 kbps) shrinks speech recordings further.

From an online video

Copy the link and press ⌃⇧D on a Mac or Ctrl+Shift+D on Windows, then choose Audio. This is for videos you're allowed to download, such as your own uploads or Creative Commons content.

PlanetOS does all of this on your computer. Your files are never uploaded, and it works without an internet connection.

Questions

Which is better, MP3 or M4A?
