File converter for Windows
PlanetOS for Windows converts files from File Explorer and the desktop. Start dragging a file, tap Shift, and drop it on a planet. It runs on Windows 10 and 11, on both x64 and ARM PCs.

How it works on Windows
PlanetOS sits in the system tray. While you drag a file, Shift opens the conversion planets, Alt opens tools, and Ctrl opens actions like Zip, Copy path and Open in Terminal.
Ctrl+Alt+V converts what's on the clipboard, Ctrl+Shift+D saves video or audio from a copied link, and window snapping puts windows into halves, thirds and quarters with Ctrl+Alt and an arrow key.
HEIC without extra codecs
Windows needs paid extensions to open iPhone photos. PlanetOS reads HEIC itself and converts it to JPG or PNG. Opening HEIC files on Windows.
Install
Download the zip for your PC (x64 for most PCs, ARM for Snapdragon laptops), unzip it anywhere and run PlanetOS.exe. To update, quit PlanetOS and unzip the new version over the old folder. Your settings are kept in %APPDATA%\PlanetOS.
Video formats like MKV and WebM use ffmpeg, which PlanetOS downloads once when it's first needed. Text recognition uses the free Tesseract OCR engine if you install it.
PlanetOS does all of this on your computer. Your files are never uploaded, and it works without an internet connection.
