PDF to Excel
PlanetOS turns the text in a PDF into an Excel sheet: drag the PDF, tap Shift and drop it on the Excel planet. Each line becomes a row and columns are split where the PDF has clear gaps.
How to convert PDF to Excel
- 1
Start dragging the PDF file, from the desktop or any folder.
- 2
While you're still holding it, tap Shift. A ring of planets opens around the file, one for each format it can become.
- 3
Drop the file on the Excel planet. The Excel copy appears next to the original a moment later.

Which PDFs work well
Bank statements, price lists and simple reports with tidy columns come out well. The conversion looks for tabs and runs of spaces between values to decide where one column ends and the next begins.
Tables drawn with merged cells or text wrapped inside cells may need some cleanup in Excel. Scanned PDFs have no text to read, so they won't produce a sheet.
PlanetOS does all of this on your computer. Your files are never uploaded, and it works without an internet connection.
Questions
Does it keep formulas?
No. A PDF only contains the values, so that's what goes into the sheet.
Can I open the result in Numbers or Google Sheets?
Yes, XLSX opens in both.
