Blur faces and redact info
PlanetOS hides faces and personal details before you share a file. For photos, drop them on Auto-redact faces & info; for PDFs, Redact sensitive info; for videos, Redact…, where you draw boxes to black out, blur or pixelate.
How it works
- 1
Start dragging the photo, PDF or video.
- 2
Tap Command (Mac) or Alt (Windows, Linux) to open the Tools planets.
- 3
Photos: drop on Auto-redact faces & info, or Redact… to choose areas yourself. PDFs: drop on Redact sensitive info. Videos: drop on Redact… and draw boxes over what should disappear.

What gets found automatically
In photos, PlanetOS finds faces and text that looks personal: email addresses, phone numbers, links, card numbers, IBANs and 11-digit national ID numbers. In PDFs it looks for the same kinds of text.
The redaction replaces the pixels, so it can't be undone by someone who receives the file.
Videos
In a video, you draw the boxes on a still frame and PlanetOS applies them to every frame. That suits a fixed camera, a screen recording with a visible email address, or a number plate in a parked car. A face that moves across the frame needs a larger box. Step-by-step guide.
PlanetOS does all of this on your computer. Your files are never uploaded, and it works without an internet connection.
Questions
Is blur safe enough?
For faces, yes. For text such as account numbers, black boxes are the safest choice.
Does the video redaction track moving faces?
No. Boxes stay where you draw them for the whole video.
